Your 2 Cents: Small is Significant

Please join us (The blogging community at Joyful Jubilant Learning) in giving your two cents worth for every word you blog between Sunday October 26 and Saturday November 1st.

No Cents - No Problem. If your country does not use pennies --- just use the smallest unit of currency to calculate your donation.

You are pledging to give 2 cents for every word you blog during this week to a local or national organization that lessens or alleviates poverty.

We are encouraging all bloggers to pledge two cents a word for every word they write in their blog between October 26th and November 1st. to their favorite or local charity involved in work to lessen or overcome poverty.

As a blogger, we respect both your choices and honesty. We want you to choose who to give the money to and we don't need to collect it to know that you will donate it!

Supersize your donation. If you want to give more, you can remember that a picture is worth a 1000 words so you could also donate $20 a picture! This is an invitation to do more, the choice is always yours.

For example, I will donate 2 cents for each word (and $20 for each picture - a picture is worth a thousand words) to Winnipeg Harvest - an organization to feed hungry people in Winnipeg Manitoba.

Thank you for giving cents to lessen something that makes no sense at all!

Please encourage other bloggers to commit to this initiative or write a blog post to ask others to contribute.

Feel free to use the image of the American or Canadian penny button in your post!

This initiative was conceived on October 15th. - Blog Action Day (Poverty 2008) as part of the Joyful Jubilant Learning Community's Response to actions to lessen or alleviate poverty.

A new form will be posted on November 1st for you to record how many words your wrote, how much you donated, and what charity or group will receive your donation.
