Unofficial Battrick World Champion of the World

.

EdWeatherall:

.

I was bored, so I thought I'd see who the Unofficial One-Day Battrick World Champion of the World was.

.

For argument's sake, I took the first game to be played as being Allan's first competitive match, as he has the lowest team id [teamid=1] and it's his game,

.

so it's only fair that he starts with it. There are probably earlier matches than this, but this will do.

.

Rules are simple: the team remains the Unofficial One-Day Battrick World Champion of the World until their team loses a game.

.

This started off as a BT England-only thing (without friendlies), but people held it for too long.

.

Below are all the matches, I have only listed the matchid for the game when the title passed over to a new person.

As you'll see, I've filled in all the matchids, and added some detail as to where the Cup resided (league (and format where applicable) of the holder)

.

I also filled in a couple of gaps from Ed's file (teams that had played more matches at the end of a season than the previous holder - it's tricky to explain)

.

and brought the cup up to date from where Ed had left off (somewhere in Season 8, if I remember).

.

The other big change is that - since I'm doing it and I get to change the rules however I like - I've split the Cup into four (and plan on five).

.

The original competition included BT20, since that was a great way for the Cup to make some great leaps across countries and divisions (when the BT20 comp was international),

.

but I don't like BT20, so I've gone back and revised the history of the One True Cup (the Purest Cup) to follow only One Day matches - League, Cup and Friendly.

.

Don't worry, I've kept the other bloodlines as well, split into: the Leagues Cup (for all OD League, Cup, and Friendly matches, as well as First Class league matches);

.

the Short-Format Cup (for all matches played inside a day, including OD and BT20 League, Cup, and Friendly matches); and the All-Comers' Cup (for all matches, in all formats).

.

I also plan to trace the Sunday Cup, starting again with Allan's High Roding and featuring only OD Cup and Friendly matches, but that'll have to wait.

.

Thanks to EdWeatherall for getting this one started, and to kardo who traced a similar line starting from his own first match (available at http://kardo.nl.eu.org/bt/txt/boxcup.txt)
