[1] Asdeveloped by Bill James. The six separate categories (based on the last two years of performance) are put on a scale of 0 to 10. Any numbers below 0 are 0, any above 10 are 10. The lowest score is dropped, and the average of the other five is the speed score of the player.
[2] Stolen base success rate over the last two years converted to a scale from 0-10. (SB+3)/(SB+CS+7)-0.4)*20
[3] Frequency of Stolen Base Attempts on a scale of 0-10. (SQRT((SB+CS)/(1B+BB+HBP)))/0.07
[4] Percentage of hits that are triples, converted to 0-10 scale. The first part of the formula is 3B/(AB-HR-SO). One converts that to -10 by using a chart that I haven't put up here.
[5] Percentage of times on base the player scores converted to 0-10 scale. (((R-HR)/(H+HBP+BB-HR)) - 0.1)/0.04
[6] GIDP Frequency on a 0-10 scale. (0.55-((GIDP/(AB-HR-SO)))/.005
[7] Range Factor over the last two years multiplied by a positional adjustment. Catchers, 1Bs, and DH's have set adjustments, "true" RF is not taken into account for players in those positions. Have have mainly used the primary positions for players. I've consolidated all OF innings, as they all have the same multiplier. Yeah, I know... but it's not being used as a measurement of defense here, and I don't have the data or know-how to use a "real" defensive system in this role. I wonder if OOZ would do the trick? Adjustments: C 1, 1b 2, dh, 1.5, 2b 1.25*RF, 3B 1.51*RF, SS 1.52*RF, OF 3*RF
