The EPA offers the P3 competition in order to respond to the technical needs of the world while moving towards the goal of sustainability." | http://es.epa.gov/ncer/rfa/2009/2009_p3.html | Phase 1: $10,000; Phase 2: up to $75,000 | 12/23/2008 | 6 | 7 | This seems to be a national competition not focused specifically on projects for the developing world, but it has potential - Daniel I think this could be good, especially if we highlight any technological innovations in the water solutions. -Anna | Due date is coming up awfully soon, government grants are notoriously time consuming to apply to, just something to keep in mind. Our project doesn't exactly fit the description, though it could be molded to fit with much creativity. --Sandra |
. | Peru Opportunity Fund | Hampshire Foundation | Large foundation which funds a whole gambit of projects in Peru | http://www.peruopportunity.org/index.tpl?vv_page=Application_Process&curr=5 | $20,000 - $1,000,000 | Rolling | 8 | 5 | I think this fund would be a source of seed money if we established a project which had the prospect of replicating across communities. It would probably be best to apply to after we've completed the pre-implementation work - Daniel Nice find. I wasn´t aware of this foundation. I saw that their funding strategy focuses on 1) housing, 2) job training, and 3) environment-sus. tourism. Under environment there are also a waste disposal and supporting rural livlihoods sections. We´d have to see how a water project could relate to their priorities. Given the interest in environment and water-pollution issues, it might be interesting to link this water project with the larger context of the mine´s pollution of the water sources and appropriation of the local lagoons. | This is my favorite, however, it says they don't fund: Proposals directed by entities outside the country in which the project is located; So we'd need to make sure it seems that Soluciones Practicas is directing. Also, Peru Opportunity Fund will only consider funding organizations with the following legal status: 501 (c) 3 tax status; A fiscal sponsor; The capacity to provide POF adequate financial, legal and project information to perform IRS-mandated expenditure responsibility. --Sandra |

Applications are accepted from 1 July to 31 March. | http://www.rotary.org/en/ServiceAndFellowship/FundAProject/MatchingGrants/Pages/ridefault.aspx | $5,000 to $150,000 | From 1 July to 1 March | 4 | 7 | I think this opportunity has a lot of potential if we partner with a Rotary Club - Daniel I´m not sure if there is rotary here, I imagine so, but i don´t have any contacts there. If we take this route, we should coordinate with Gordy and Michel as they are cultivating some portland and vancouver rotary contacts for other projects. | This has a lot of potential, there are rotary clubs in Lima. They have websites, but all in Spanish. I'll look more closely at this soon. --Sandra |
. | | Oak Foundation | | http://www.oakfnd.org/ | | | | | | not seeing anything here that pertains to clean water access or anything like it, we could apply, but this would be a big stretch. --Sandra |
. | we received funding from them for training for Peru over three years (2007--2010 I think?) through this grant -- I do not know when we will be eligible to re-apply | Toyota Foundation | | http://www.toyotafound.or.jp/english/03entry/
. | As an institution we have made a decision NOT to apply for or accept money from Coke based on their record of lowering and polluting water supplies near their production facilities throughout the world -- remember the piece in the film FLOW? | Coca-Cola Foundation | | http://www.thecoca-colacompany.com/citizenship/foundation_guidelines.html
. | | World Help Foundation | | http://www.worldhelpfound.org/AboutTheWorldHelpFoundation.htm | | | | | | This organization is right in line with what we are doing, but I don't see that they fund grants? --Sandra |
