Technical Notes:

.

The first and last verses reference the theme of "Then, Now" the same way but from different perspectives. In the first verse the snowflakes falling on the hand at the end of winter are viewed differently than when snowflakes fell on the same hand at the beginning of the winter. In the last verse the level of joy for skiing has not declined over the course of the winter.

.

3. Here in Canada it takes about three days to travel across the country by train. Traveling by air it takes about four hours.

.

5. Old-timers hockey is typically played by retired hockey players. These players represent the days when there was no TV and the era of instant replay. Nowadays it is common for hockey fans in the bleachers at a game to view instant replays on their cell phones.
