. | Technical Notes: | | | | | | | | |
. | The first theme is the spelling of the word "VACATE". Each verse contributes a letter in sequence either by name as in verses 1, 2, and 6, or by shape as in verses 3, 4, and 5. The word VACATE, of course, is related to the ducks in the first verse that are vacating their Northern summer home as well as the kids moving out in the last verse.
. | 3. When a horseshoe is hung sideways it looks like the letter "C".
. | 4. When viewed from the side, a sawhorse looks like the letter "A".
. | 5. Osprey's like to make nests on top of pole-like objects, typically near bodies of water where there can catch fish for their chicks. The letter "T" comes from the shape of the telephone pole.
. | 6. The letter "E" is from the word "e-mail".
