Hello,

.

This spreadsheet tracks my Electric Vehicle driving. I started driving a a 1998 Chevy S-10 EV in late Feb 2007. I have never had to stop at the gas station, and I estimate that I will save about $1000 per year in gas (albeit with some additional cost in electricity). All while being Green! That’s a pretty good deal. It has quick acceleration, can go 70 MPH, can haul 940 lbs, gets me to work and back (about 21 miles) and still has about 70% charge left if I want to run errands. That is an impressive list, too bad 1998 technology is not more widely available. I’ll track my results here. Feel free to check in periodically.

Based on the CarFax* report and information I have collected from previous owners, here is the history of this truck that I am aware of. It was manufactured in January 1998 and started out as a fleet vehicle at Disneyland on 11/23/1998. It served Mickey in this capacity for 7 yrs. 5 mo. It was then sold to EVBones (www.evbones.com) on 05/17/2006 with 13,642 miles on it. EVBones serviced it, replacing the tires and load testing all 26 NiMH batteries. EVBones then sold it to Don B. in Oregon on 06/01/2006 with 13,735. Don is an active member of the Oregon EV Association (www.oeva.org/). Don commuted to work in it and purchased more 5 EVs during the next few months (2 other S10 EVs, 2 Ford Ranger EVs and a Sparrow). I was in the market for an EV and had test driven a Zap Xebra. The Xebra's range was too limited and the top speed was too slow for my commute. During this time in late 2006, other EVs such as the Tesla roadster or Phoenix Motors truck/SUV were either too expensive or just not available in Oregon. Only days after signing up for the OEVA mailing list, I saw and responded to Don's posting to sell his S10EV. We talked, I test drove it and bought it on 02/24/2007 with 18804 miles on it.
