The Eco-Roof Incentive Program supports the retrofit of commercial, industrial and institutional buildings with a cool roof or green roof. A cool roof reflects the sun's thermal energy, helping to mitigate the urban heat island. A green roof supports vegetation and contributes to stormwater management, urban heat island mitigation and the enhancement of Toronto's biodiversity. Successful applicants may receive:
• $50 / square metre of green roof up to $100,000
• $2-5 per square metre of cool roof, up to $50,000
