. | This class will introduce the student to a musical instrument and basic music skills. Different musical styles and types of music, care of the instrument, reading basic notes and music, playing short pieces with music and from memory, pitch, tone, rhythm and tempo will all be covered. The student will be taught how to choose appropriate music for their instrument and skill level. The student will practice daily and have weekly lessons with an approved CBI. Student may perform for family members or for a group. |

The student makes connections within and across the arts to other disciplines, life, cultures, and work. To meet this standard the student will: 4.1. Demonstrate and analyze the connections among the arts disciplines. 4.2. Demonstrate and analyze the connections among the arts and other content areas. 4.3. Understand how the arts impact lifelong choices. 4.4. Understand that the arts shape and reflect culture and history. 4.5.
