At Family Movie night come for a kid friendly movie that the whole family can enjoy. Concessions are served. Admission to the movie is free and there is a nominal fee for concessions. All proceeds from movie night help support other PTA sponsored events.

Periodically the PTA needs your help in supplying baked goods for events. You will be contacted by a committee chair or the PTA depending on who is organizing the event. There are many opportunites throughout the year to help out in this capacity.

The Scholastic Book Fair is run in the Fall and the Spring to offer books for children to purchase at the school. The fair lasts 1 week and needs 10-15 volunteers to work at the fair.

Four Winds is an environmental science program for PreK-4th grade. 4 Winds is organized and taught by the parents. Each month a team of parents are trained on a subject at a workshop and then present the workshop for their childs class.

Math Game Train Every Day Math (Committee Chair(s): JoAnn Harvey and MJ Mitiguy)

The “Game Train” is a Parent Volunteer Program that takes the games included in the “Everyday Math Program”, teaches them to parents and trains them to work with small groups of students as a part of their math program at school. The time commitment for parents is a 1.5 hour evening workshop to kick it off and then the volunteer time in their child’s classroom. Parents will be offered the opportunity for support and to learn new games every 6 weeks.

Family Playgroup: A playgroup for children birth to 6 with a parent or caregiver. We meet every other Wednesday at the Library and the other Wednesdays at the Georgia School small gym. Please bring a snack. Children will have a chance to listen to stories, play with peers, do physical activities and more. A safe event for young children to enjoy some indoor Halloween fun. After the games and crafts children line up to go outside for some trunk-or-treating in the parking lot (usually provided by parents.)We need volunteers to help with set up/tear down. We also need volunteers to help at the craft and activity tables.

An egg hunt for children birth to 8+, crafts, snack, games and egg dying. Egg hunts are divided by age levels. We need volunteers for stuffing plastic eggs, finding candy donations, laying out eggs on the morning of the event, set up/tear down, running tables at event.

Usually a breakfast is organized on one day for teachers, then small gifts are put into their mailboxes throughout the week. At the end of the week a raffled dinner goes home with approx. 20 staff members. We need volunteers to bake for the breakfast, help organize gifts and put them in mailboxes, help bake dinners and deliver them to the school in the afternoon of the Friday of Staff Appreciation Week.

A program to help families and children birth to six thrive, have healthy choices and be ready for school. We need volunteers to help with playgroups, day care visits, welcome infant visits, and grant writing. We will be meeting once a month at the public library. Teacher Mini Grants are awarded for things above and beyond the school budget that teachers would like for their classrooms. This committee reviews the submissions to decide on whether or not to issue the grants to the applying teacher.

The Winter Carnival is held in February or March. The No Strings Marinette Company performs and then there are carnival games and prizes, a cake walk and a good time for all. Volunteers are needed to help organize the event.

Assemblies/Residences (Committee Chair: Marilyn Sink)

Volunteers are needed to assist in selecting performers for workshops and assemblies throughout the school year. Grants from the Vermont Council on the Arts are available and often necessary as the professional artists are costing more for school performances especially when dealing with large numbers. People willing to work on this committee need some daytime availability, interest in writing grants and creative ideas.This group will have some teachers and parents working together.
