2009 - 2010 Lakeview PTSA Volunteer Form

The Lakeview PTSA has a lot of fun events and activities planned for the coming school year. And, of course, most of them need volunteers. In order to allow you to schedule your time, and the event planners to plan realistically, we ask that you let us know which activities you can help with this year. Volunteering is a great way to support our school and get to know other parents. Lakeview has about 330 families, so among us we should be able to share the work to make this a remarkable year!

Rummage sale fundraiser (May 1) Help with setup, cashiering and/or cleanup. A few hours help will have a big payoff for our school! Time: 3 hrs on the weekend of 5/1. Number needed: 30+

Carnival (Jan 30) A huge favorite for the kids, especially K-3. Run a game, sell tickets or food, or help with set up, or cleanup. Time: 1-2 hours at the event. Number needed: 50.

Cooking or baking Bring a dish or a sweet (homemade or store-bought) to a PTSA event 3 or more times in the year. The group would be emailed about events 1-2 weeks ahead of time, and there’s no obligation to cook for each one. Number needed: 20+. Time: 6 hrs for the year

Make-It Take-It Fair (Dec 6) The MITI Fair has about 10 stations where kids can make their own holiday gifts. Past stations have included spice rubs, earrings, decorated candles and picture frames. Help with a station or with setup and cleanup. Time: 2 hours at the event. Number needed: 25+.

Passport Club Check students’ knowledge of geography in this fun new program starting this year. Students study a specific set of countries each month. On Passport check day, each class comes by the Passport office. We need helpers for 15 desks in the passport office once a month. Time: 2 hrs most months. Number needed: 30+.

Library helper Help our librarian label, sort and shelve books. Hours are flexible. May be asked to help with the book fair from Nov 16-19. Time: 1-2 hours per month. Number needed: 6+.

Marathon helper (May) Help punch student tickets to mark how many laps they’ve run on their quest to get to 26.2 miles. Students run during lunch recess in May. Help is also needed in maintaining the marathon bulletin board and other support jobs. Time: 5-10 hours in May. Number needed: 5+.

Science fair (February) Help setup for the fair or with the judging of projects. No science background necessary – just enjoy asking the young scientists some questions about their project. Time: 3 hours on the day of the fair. Number needed: 6+.

Staff appreciation committee Help plan a variety of ways to show appreciation to the Lakeview staff. This committee oversees Teacher Appreciation Week, Classified Staff Appreciation Week, the staff holiday party and goodie bags at Fall Conference time, but new ideas and surprises for the staff are always welcome. Time: 4-10 hours for the year. Number needed: 8-12.

Family Dance Night (Oct 16) A week of school dancing lessons during PE and Music culminates with the Family Dance Night. DJ Galen returns to run the show, but help is needed for setup, serving food and cleanup. Time: 2 hours at the event. Number needed: 10-15.

Hospitality committee Help plan events for building the parent community, such as parent coffees. Time: 10 hours for the year. Number needed: 4+.

You can ask me… Please check this if we can contact you occasionally throughout the year for ad-hoc help. Examples would be to help distribute Lakeview T-shirts or yearbooks, help with health screenings or school picture day and so forth.
