The purpose and nature of the research work in which you are being asked to participate is to investigate international, contemporary mobile phone culture. The results will be analyzed and used as primary data for writing a Masters thesis.
You are being asked to participate in this survey because you own a mobile phone and are over 18 years of age. Minors are not permitted to participate in this survey. No deceptive practices are in effect within this survey. As a potential subject, your participation is fully voluntary. As a research subject, you are entitled to protection of your privacy, and your confidentiality is ensured unless you decide to indicate otherwise. By filling out this survey you are giving your consent for the results to be used as primary data for a New York University Gallatin Masters thesis project. A record of this survey will be maintained on the personal computer of the investigator and his academic advisor and on google's servers. After the research and analysis phase of the project is concluded, the results (minus personally identifying characteristics) will only be shared with participants that indicate that they would like a copy of the survey data. No personally identifying information will be shared with anyone. You may stop taking the survey at any time. If you wish to withdraw prior to completing the survey, close your browser and no results will be recorded. Once the survey is completed and you have submitted it, however, we will not be able to delete your data. Note that you may skip or not answer the questions that are personal in nature.
