Information Sheet

Project Title: Describing a Romantic or Marital Relationship
Person Responsible: Associate Professor John Malouff
Co-Investigator: Hans Receveur, UNE psychology student

The purpose of the study is to investigate the main characteristics of romantic relationships. For the study, you will rate your current relationship on about 88 words and give your gender and age. Some individuals might consider the information collected personal and sensitive, so we don’t want your name or any information that might identify you. Completing the study will take about 10 minutes.

It is completely up to you whether you participate in the study. If you wish to discontinue participation after you have begun, you are free to do so. Also, you may omit any question you want, although we hope that you will answer all of them. To participate in this study, you must be at least 18 years old. If you would like to participate, complete the questions below and click submit. If you would like to find out the results of the study, send an email to jmalouff@une.edu.au sometime in the next few months. It is unlikely that this research will raise any personal or upsetting issues but if it does you may wish to contact your local Community Health Centre (this information can be found in your local White Pages) or contact Lifeline – 131 114 or if you are a UNE student you can contact the UNE Counselling Centre at 02 6773 2897.

This project has been approved by the University’s Human Research Ethics Committee of the University of New England (Approval No HE09-129), expiry date 27 July 10.
