SOTL Symposium: Teaching Public and International Affairs: Negotiating Between a Sub-Discipline and a Potential Interdiscipline

Rita Kiki Edozie, Assoc Prof, James Madison College, MSU
Thursday, 11/12/2009, 4pm
109 Halle Library.

Dr. Edozie’s talk will present current transformations occurring in the practice of international relations teaching and learning. Her presentation examines these changes in the context of the expansion of ‘interdisciplinary studies’ in social science disciplines with area studies content. She bases her research inquiry on a classroom study that sought to evaluate the extent to which international relations students could develop critical thinking skills that “integrated” or “added knowledge” drawn from multiple disciplinary insights to specific problems of comparative political affairs and international relations.
