* A loosely organized, collaborative gathering of tech / media / creative people * A community-focused 24-hour event of discovery and relationship building * An intimate, modest, casual, open affair where everyone is a participant
Barcamp began in Silicon Valley in August 2005. The second was organized in October of that year in Amsterdam by Boris Mann, and it has since become a worldwide phenomenon, including many spin off events.
== Why sponsor BarCamp Vancouver? ==
BarCamp Vancouver is the leading 'unconference' in Western Canada. Previous years were over-booked, and our 2008 event has already sold out, two months before the event.
== Benefits of Sponsorship ==
* Connecting your company with early adopters / technology trend setters / technology leaders and influencers * Supporting a volunteer-driven community of innovation * Participating in a movement with a global reach
Whatever your other needs as a company -- recruitment, thought leadership, developer relations, workshopping products -- BarCamp is the event to be at.
== Sponsorship Ask ==
We're asking for $500 from each of the regular sponsors, limited to a maximum of 10 sponsors. We also have three "food sponsor" levels for breakfast, lunch, and the pre-party.
== What Do You Get For Sponsoring? ==
* Public thanks at the event * Your logo on the official BarCamp Vancouver 2009 t-shirt * Promotion on the BarCamp Vancouver 2009 website * Repeated mentions and thanks in promotional blog posts * 2 free tickets (4 free tickets for food sponsors)
Food sponsors also get additional signage on site and dedicated thanks for their specific contributions.
