|Inclusive Excellence Submission for|
Continuing Education & Extension
|1. Diversity is already included in many of the programs developed and offered through CEE, either through topic, participation, and/or scholarships for attendance. Staff will look for opportunities to include diversity in our credit and non-credit programs; we will also look for opportunities to strengthen the way diversity is already included in our credit and non-credit programs. |
2.Several staff in CEE work with diverse populations and have strong contacts in diverse areas. Various staff will be asked periodically to invite someone to our staff meetings to share with us information about their diverse background. This will be done in a small, informal setting where all staff are encouraged to participate through asking questions or sharing comments. Depending on topic/speaker, there may be the opportunity to invite others in Morris Hall to participate.
3.Interest was shown in having a book club among staff members. Those interested will be encouraged to participate.
4.Interest was also shown in learning about and sampling ethnic foods. Those interested will be encouraged to pursue this through ordering in ethnic foods for lunches, or possibly a pot luck where everyone makes an ethnic dish.
5.The book chosen for the book club and/or the ethnic foods could tie in with the presenter who is invited to present at a staff meeting. Combining #2, #3 and #4 would lead to a richer and more in depth learning experience.
6. Notices of events related to diversity will be posted on the CEE bulletin board located in the CEE workroom.
7. Staff will be invited to share via emails and/or at monthly staff meetings their experiences with the Inclusive Excellence initiative. They will also be encouraged to share any new ideas for involvement that may come up.
