Inclusive Excellence Submission for
the Office of Student Life

.

.

Our Unit is working on participating in trainings to expand our cultural and diversity competence. We have attended this year and will continue to attend trainings on diversity, conferences related to diversity, and on campus diversity organization meetings. This current year our entire office is attending the White Privilege Conference.

All employees in our unit make it to student diversity organization meetings throughout the year. We work hard to make our selves know to the students in these groups so that we are friendly faces they can turn to if they have any needs.

Our Violence Prevention area has created a poster series including same-sex and racial diversity to show their support to the inclusiveness of this issue.

We work in all areas of our department to outreach to diverse students in our programming efforts so that students realize this program is for everyone on campus. We create programs that are also geared toward specific populations such as students with disabilities, and LGBT Students.

We discuss issues of diversity in our Behavioral Intervention Team (BIT) and in our Office of Student Life meetings that pertain to bias incidents on campus, and hate crimes. We continue to educate ourselves as a department to best respond to the Bias Reporting Form that our office oversees.
