IMPORTANT PLEASE READ -- ATHLETIC ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS: Please be advised that to be eligible to play sports at TNCC you must be in good disciplinary and academic standing with the college and meet the following criteria as required by the Virginia Community College System (VCCS) Intercollegiate Athletics Board. NOTE: VCCS requirements do not apply to flag football.

Each student athlete must be enrolled in a minimum of six (6) credit hours each semester of participation. Student must earn a minimum of six (6) credits with a 2.0 GPA in previous term. Second and third season participants shall maintain a cumulative grade point average of at least a 2.0 GPA. GPA computation starts with initial semester of post-secondary enrollment at the institution of sanctioned sport participation. Current dual enrollment and home schooled students are not eligible to participate. Developmental course completions are to be counted towards GPA calculations as follows: S grades = 3.0, R grades = 1.0, U grades = 0.0. Each student athlete must maintain a minimum of six (6) credit hours each semester of participation towards the completion of their declared curricular program for a total of twelve (12) or more credit hours per academic year (to include summer). Withdrawals that take the student below the required six hours are not counted as “maintaining.” A new student’s enrollment will be verified at census to insure that he/she is registered for at least six (6) credits. A second season participant must have a minimum of 12 hours passed with a 2.0 GPA. A third season participant must have a minimum of 24 hours passed with a 2.0 GPA. No participant may drop below the minimum of six (6) credit hours during any semester of participation. If he/she does drop below six (6) credit hours, he/she will become immediately ineligible for the remainder of the season. (A student may enroll in a special session course to maintain minimum credits required.) A student may participate as a student athlete of any organized/sanctioned post-secondary team (club or varsity) for a maximum of three (3) years at any postsecondary school for their sport of competition in VCCS Athletics. To clarify, years played at any post-secondary school (VCCS or other colleges) will count toward total VCCS eligibility.
