Virginia Western Community College Professional Development Application THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT APPLICATION CAN ONLY BE SUBMITTED ON THE DATES ANNOUNCED BY THE PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE

INSTRUCTIONS: The Professional Development Application provides you with the opportunity to request funding for a variety of professional development activities. All full-time employees are eligible to participate in the program. Using this form, you may apply for professional development activities that will take place in between July 1, 2011 and June 30, 2012.

Professional development activities include both VCCS and non-VCCS activities (i.e. conferences and seminars). Because of the current budget shortfall in the Commonwealth, however, you should be advised that it is unlikely the college will be able to support many non-VCCS-sponsored activities unless you receive external funding in the form of a grant or other award. You must complete this application form if you plan to attend New Horizons, peer group meetings, VCCA, or any other VCCS conference or meeting.

After completing this application, you should submit it and the data will be captured. The applications will then be reviewed by an ad hoc committee comprised of faculty, staff, and administrative representatives who will evaluate the requests and make recommendations to the Vice President of Academic and Student Affairs.

Please note:
• All educational aid requests for tuition assistance and technical training requests should be listed on this application. Once you are notified of your award, educational aid requests for tuition assistance should use the form provided by the Human Resources Office: https://vwconnect.vw.edu/sites/hr/Shared%20Documents/HR%20Forms/educationalassistancecontinuouslearningrequest.pdf"> (only accessible through VWConnect).

DUE DATE IS April 1, 2011. YOUR REQUEST CANNOT BE CONSIDERED IF NOT SUBMITTED BY THE DUE DATE.
BE SURE TO KEEP A COPY OF THE APPLICATION FOR YOUR FILES BY SAVING THIS DOCUMENT OR PRINTING THE FORM.
