Dear Counselor/Group Leader,
The bridges Multicultural Resource Center in collaboration with the Recruitment and Retention Centers: the Black Recruitment and Retention Center (BRRC), Native American Recruitment and Retention Center (NARRC), Pilipino Academic Student Services (PASS), Asian/Pacific Islander Recruitment and Retention Center (REACH!), Raza Recruitment and Retention Center and Mixed Student Union (MSU) invite you and your students to bridges Multicultural Shadow Day at UC Berkeley.
The event will take place on Friday, April 23 on the UC Berkeley campus from 10:00-4:00 p.m. As student run organizations, we wish to provide middle school and high school students with a first-hand UC Berkeley experience in our effort to educate and motivate the middle/high school students to apply to UC Berkeley and other four year universities. Participants will take part in a variety of workshops and hear from current undergraduate-students as well as faculty speakers. We hope to provide prospective students with as many resources and information as possible in order to assist underrepresented students in their struggle to achieve higher education and their dreams.
The program will take place in the Multicultural Center which is located on the main floor of Martin Luther King Jr. Student Union Building (corner of Bancroft & Telegraph). Unfortunately, space will be limited and we will only be able to accommodate no more than 150 students for this event on a first come, first serve basis. Although budget constraints will not allow us to reimburse participants for travel expenses, we might be able to provide one way Bart tickets (special circumstances) and provide parking tickets. Please RSVP by providing the participant information on the sign up sheet, or by emailing Lucero Torres. Deadline to RSVP will be on April 12th 2010.
