Order of the Engineers is an association that stresses the importance of ethical behavior in engineering. The Engineering Student Council would like to offer school of engineering seniors, graduate students, faculty, administration, and alumni the opportunity to be initiated into Order of the Engineers. Individuals in an ABET accredited undergraduate or graduate engineering program and any licensed professional engineers are eligible to join the Order of the Engineers. After pledging that you will act ethically as a professional engineer, you will be given a stainless steel ring to wear on the fifth finger of your writing hand. Order of the Engineers is not a financial commitment; there are no membership fees, and the cost of the ring is only $10. Order of the Engineers is not an honor society, but rather a way to remind Tufts about the importance of acting responsibly as a professional engineer.
Order of the Engineers Ceremony will be held on Friday, May 6, 201 from 6:00pm to 7:00pm in Alumni Lounge. A reception with hors d'oeuvres will follow. Business casual attire is appropriate.
***As of April 27, 2011, you can still sign up to become a member of Order of the Engineer and attend the May 6 ceremony, but you will not receive a ring at the ceremony. You can order a ring at http://www.order-of-the-engineer.org/. Please contact Tufts Engineering Student Council (email@example.com) to determine your ring size.
