Campus Recreation seeks an Aquatic Manager for its program beginning May 1, 2011. Applicants assume certain responsibilities, primarily, in assisting with hiring, training, assessments, pool maintenance and supervision. Reports directly to the Fitness, Wellness & Aquatics Coordinator. Directs all phases of training new and current Lifeguards to ensure the safety of all that participate in our programming. Responsible for preparing/closing the swimming facility for Rec Hours. Responsible for the care of all equipment used. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.
Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
-Working knowledge of indoor swimming pool system. -Knowledge and use of chemicals for swimming pool and water chemistry. -Professional contact with SFSU community, upholding Campus Rec Codes of Conduct. -Ability to perform under pressure. -Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to create effective working relationships with employees and the public.
Certifications & Experience
Water Safety Instructor, CPR, First Aid, AED and Lifeguard Training, LGI a plus. "Aquatic Manager" must have at least 2 consecutive semesters previous experience performing lifeguarding duties at SFSU Aquatic Facility. Aquatic Managerial experience (aside from SFSU) can be substituted in some cases.
Varies with experience and certifications.
Will consist of an application screening with the most qualified candidates being invited to participate in a personal interview. Appointment subject to successful completion of background investigation and swim skill testing.
