In order to be considered for the Aquatics "Lifeguard II" position, you must have served as a Campus Recreation Lifeguard I position for at least one full semester. This is a semi-management position in that you will assist the Aquatics Manager with duties and be responsible for the monthly swim tests of all student staff lifeguards. Position Description

Campus Recreation seeks an Aquatics "Lifeguard II" position for its program beginning August 18, 2011. Applicants assume certain responsibilities, primarily, in record keeping and overseeing student staff complete monthly swim tests. Additional responsibilities can be given by the Aquatics Manager and may involve Staff hiring, training, promotions, assessments, pool maintenance and supervision. Reports directly to the Aquatics Manager. Responsible for preparing/closing the swimming facility for Rec Hours. Responsible for the care of all equipment used. Performs other duties as assigned or directed.

Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

-Working knowledge of indoor swimming pool system. -Knowledge and use of chemicals for swimming pool and water chemistry. -Strong knowledge of effective training models and swim practices. -Professional contact with SFSU community, upholding Campus Rec Codes of Conduct. -Ability to perform under pressure. -Ability to communicate both verbally and in writing; ability to create effective working relationships with employees and the public. -Organized, punctual, efficient, a go-getter.

Certifications & Experience

Minimum Qualifications: CPR, First Aid, AED and Lifeguard Training WSI and/or LGI a plus. "Lifeguard II" must have at least 1 semester previous experience performing lifeguarding duties at SFSU Aquatic Facility.

Varies with experience and certifications.

Selection Process

Will consist of an application screening with the most qualified candidates being invited to participate in a personal interview. Appointment subject to successful completion of background investigation and swim skill testing.
