Academic Computing Expert Availability: Please provide your availability to work.

Are you interested in working as an Academic Computing Expert? If so, please provide your hours of availability. Please note the hours of the Student Computing office are Monday-Thursday from 9am-11pm, Fridays from 9am-5pm, Saturdays from 12-5pm, and Sunday 2pm-8pm. If you cannot work a particular day, please enter None.








Experience Using Computers

The positions of a BCIT student employee requires experience with software products and support as well as technical support. We do not expect that our applicants will come in with previous knowledge of everything that we support, but we are looking for applicants who are confident working with computers, excited and motivated to learn more, and patient. All ACEs will participate in a thorough training program. Check the box which best describes how competent you think you are in using the programs below.












Reference #1 (Recommendation Provider)

Please provide two references that could recommend you as a strong applicant to our program. Reference #1 will be providing your letter of recommendation. (You will only need one recommendation.) We strongly suggest that your references are former employers, college professors, high school teachers, or guidance counselors.

Recommendation

Please have one of your References submit a recommendation letter via email with subject line BCIT Application for [Applicant's Name] to agutierr@barnard.edu. Please make sure that the recommendation is in .doc or .pdf format.

Essay Submission

In selecting BCIT student employees, it is our goal to form a staff of students who think on their feet and work cooperatively as well as independently. Use the following essays to display your confidence in computers, your ability to troubleshoot problems, and your communication skills. You must answer both questions and limit each answer to 250 words. 1. Think of a past problem that you had using a computer, or a time you helped someone else with a computer problem. Describe the steps that you took to resolve the problem. Be specific and detailed. 2. What work, volunteer, or other related experience have you had that would make you a good ACE? Explain.

Resume Submission

In addition to providing answers to the above essay questions, all applicants must submit a resume via email to agutierr@barnard.edu. Please make sure that the resume is in .doc or .pdf format.
