Student and Public Patron Email and Social Media Reference Policy Email Reference The Oklahoma City University Law Library Reference Department provides a E-mail reference service through an online form to Oklahoma City University law students and the general public. This service is limited to factual questions (i.e. does the library have a certain item in its collection? or what does a specific abbreviation stand for?) and simple ready reference questions (i.e. how should I begin researching bankruptcy law? or do LEXIS or WESTLAW contain any European Union law databases?). If your research involves more detailed questions please visit or call one of our reference librarians. Our number is 405-208-5271. The Reference Department will attempt to answer all questions promptly. A response can generally be expected within two business days excluding holidays and university closings. Reference librarians cannot interpret or explain the law to you or advise you about laws that may apply to your specific situation because doing so may constitute the rendition of legal advice and/or the unauthorized practice of law. Social Media Reference Interaction on Twitter and other social media is encouraged. Twitter and other social media accounts will be updated and checked at least once a day Monday through Friday excluding holidays or campus closings. Questions answered through Twitter and other social media accounts will be limited to factual questions related to Oklahoma City University campus, law school or law library events, hours, services, resource availability, and other ready reference questions. If your research involves more detailed questions please visit or call one of our reference librarians at 405-208-5271. Responses can be expected within one business day excluding holidays and university closings. Reference librarians cannot interpret or explain the law to you or advise you about laws that may apply to your specific situation because doing so may constitute the rendition of legal advice and/or the unauthorized practice of law. It is the responsibility of Oklahoma City University Law Students to not use email or social media reference in any manner that would violate the specific instructions of a faculty member or the student conduct code.
