Response to "Medical Students' Letter of Solidarity with Gaza"

1/19/09 We would like to extend a tremendous thank you to everyone who contributed to, signed and circulated our response letter for the amazing support and encouragement that we have received. In under a week, we gathered over 2100 signatures, including more than 900 medical students, over 600 doctors, 270 health professionals and more than 300 other concerned individuals, with the numbers continuing to rise steadily as we write. Our letter, speaking out against biased “humanitarianism” and calling for balanced perspectives was recently published in The Lancet, along with an appendix of all of the signatures that we had collected as of Sunday evening, January 18th. Once again, we conclude by expressing our concern for the protection of innocents wherever they may be and our hopes for a viable and lasting peace between the Palestinian and Israeli people.
